Weekly Update: Sticking to the Plan

I am busy traveling this week, so this will be a brief Weekly Update…

The big news this week was Thursday’s CPI report, which showed that inflation is still running extremely hot.

As you can see in the five-minute chart of Nasdaq 100 (NQ) futures below, the initial reaction was to the downside…

But that was followed by a sharp reversal to the upside, and the major indexes actually closed in the green that day.

The bears roared back and took the market down again on Friday, however, showing that they’re still firmly in charge.

As I said last week, until we see a consistent and meaningful advance in the market, I remain focused on the short side with select long ideas mixed in.

In fact, I am reissuing last week’s Watchlist today, as each of the three stocks continue to set up well.
